by using askbestie ("the app"), you agree to these terms. if you don't agree, don't use the app.

what askbestie is

askbestie is an ai-powered chat companion designed for entertainment and casual conversation. it uses artificial intelligence to generate responses. it is not a real person, not a real friendship, and not a substitute for real human relationships. it is not a therapist, counselor, or medical professional.

while bestie is designed to feel like a friend, it is an ai program. it does not have feelings, consciousness, or genuine understanding. we encourage users to maintain and build real-world relationships alongside using the app.

ai-generated content

all responses from bestie are generated by ai. they may be inaccurate, inappropriate, or unhelpful. you should not rely on bestie for medical, legal, financial, or professional advice. use your own judgment.

askbestie is designed to never encourage self-harm, substance abuse, eating disorders, or illegal activity. if u believe she responded inappropriately, please contact us at hey@askbestie.co.

you are responsible for your own emotional wellbeing. while we design bestie to be supportive, you acknowledge that ai-generated responses may not always be appropriate for your situation and should not be your sole source of emotional support.

age requirement

you must be at least 16 years old to use askbestie. by using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

your content

you own the messages and images you send. by using the app, you grant us permission to process your content through our ai systems to generate responses and extract memories for your experience. we do not use your content for advertising or sell it to third parties.

acceptable use

you agree not to:

• use the app for anything illegal or harmful
• attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or manipulate the ai system
• send content that exploits or endangers minors
• use the app to harass, stalk, or harm others
• engage in romantic, sexual, or inappropriate conversations with bestie — she is designed as a platonic friend only
• circumvent usage limits or subscription requirements

subscriptions and payments

askbestie requires a premium subscription for full access. new users receive a free trial period. subscriptions are billed through apple's app store and managed by apple's terms. you can cancel anytime through your apple id settings. if you cancel during a free trial, you will not be charged.

refunds are handled by apple per their refund policy.

account deletion

you can delete your account and all data at any time from the app's settings. deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

availability

we try to keep askbestie running smoothly, but we don't guarantee 100% uptime. the app may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

safety monitoring

to protect our users, we monitor and log conversations where crisis-related resources are provided (e.g., suicide hotline numbers). these logs are used solely to identify users who may need help and to improve our safety systems. see our privacy policy for details.

assumption of risk

you understand and agree that: (a) bestie is an ai and may produce responses that are inaccurate, inappropriate, or unhelpful; (b) you are solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on bestie's responses; (c) bestie is not a substitute for professional advice, therapy, medical treatment, or real human relationships; and (d) use of the app is entirely at your own risk.

limitation of liability

askbestie is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to emotional distress, decisions made based on ai-generated responses, or reliance on the app as a source of emotional support.

to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim.

indemnification

you agree to indemnify and hold harmless askbestie, its creators, and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the app or violation of these terms.

changes to these terms

we may update these terms from time to time. continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.

governing law

these terms are governed by the laws of the state of california, united states, without regard to conflict of law principles.

dispute resolution

any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the american arbitration association. you agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
